Specialties
Arthroscopy:
St Croix Orthopaedics is a leader in the specialty of joint arthroscopy. Significant
advances in this minimally invasive technique have allowed our physicians to more
effectively treat a variety of joint disorders, including not only the knee and
shoulder, but also the ankle, hip, elbow and wrist. State of the art equipment and
training has kept them at the forefront of numerous technical procedures including
minimally invasive total hip and knee surgery, endoscopic anterior cruciate
ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage regeneration, and shoulder
stabilization.
Foot and Ankle Surgery:
At St. Croix Orthopaedics Foot Center, the surgeons treat a variety of foot and
ankle conditions, including complex injuries and total ankle replacements. The care
team (including a podiatrist, an orthopaedic surgeon (if necessary) and a certified
orthotist or pedorthist) provide a full spectrum of care to ensure that our patients
are fully functioning as soon as possible. These qualified and certified individuals
work together to give you the care you need for your specific injury or
disease.
Fracture Management:
Fracture stabilization continues to be common in orthopedic surgery. Non-operative
and operative treatment methods are utilized with the ultimate goal of early, active
motion, and improved function. New casting materials and functional braces are used to
make the patient more comfortable in the healing process.
Hand Surgery:
Tendon repair, fracture and arthritic conditions of the hand are seen frequently at
St. Croix Orthopaedics Hand Center. Our board certified and fellowship trained
physicians have the ability to perform microsurgical techniques including nerve and
arterial repair along with repair of complex tendon injuries. Overuse conditions such
as carpal tunnel syndrome along with industrial injuries are handled efficiently with
an organized work-compensation management approach. Additionally,
St. Croix Orthopaedics was one of the first practices in the United States to offer
endoscopic carpal tunnel release and continues with this level of innovation today.
Limb Lengthening:
The St. Croix Orthopaedics limb lengthening team, led by nationally renowned
Mark T. Dahl, M.D., is focused on complex orthopaedic problems. The team can
combine the use of traditional orthopaedic surgery or a special technique known as the
Ilizarov Method for limb lengthening, congenital limb deficiencies, growth plate
injuries, bone and joint deformities, knee arthritis and deformity, non-unions and
malunions, missing segments of bone, severely comminuted fractures of the lower
extremity or "problem fractures". This team takes pride in the best analysis,
preparation, and completion of treatment, tailoring the treatment for the needs of each
individual. For those problems requiring additional expertise, the team is closely
affiliated with expert referral sources in internal medicine, pediatrics, spinal
deformity, sports medicine, rehabilitation, infectious disease, and other
subspecialties.
Spinal Conditions/Surgery:
Orthopaedics Spine Center is a leader in the treatment of neck and back
injuries. Our board certified and fellowship trained spine surgeons provide
safe and effective methods of treating cervical, thoracic and lower back disorders.
Non-operative treatments include localized injections and physical therapy. Surgical
intervention may utilize microscopic discectomy, spinal fusion and other forms of
minimally invasive procedures.

St. Croix Orthopaedics. Combined with close working relationships with athletic
trainers and physical therapists, athletes receive state of the art care.
