SUCCESS BEGINS WITH FIT
Effective care and treatment must begin with a correct fit, which we achieve through careful evaluation and precise measuring techniques combined with a deep understanding of orthotics and the many conditions that might impact a person's movement. Such personal customization ensures you will have the best fitting and most effective device possible.
SUPPORT AND PROTECTION
Whatever the need - support for athletic or daily activities, protection or alleviation of pain - braces or orthoses are available for treating problems throughout the body, including:
UPPER EXTREMITIES - from thumb splints to wrist/hand orthoses to elbow and shoulder orthoses, both off-the-shelf and custom-created in our on-site laboratory.
SPINAL - from relatively simple lumbar corsets to cervical-thoracic halos for complete cervical immobilization.
ANKLE - from simple ankle wraps for pain to customized ankle/foot orthoses to treat post-stroke symptoms, multiple sclerosis, or any number of other conditions.
KNEE - from neoprene sleeves for managing knee pain to customized knee bracing for transferring weight to multiple post-surgery bracings for athletic performance demands.
FOOT ORTHOSES
Often ideal for non-surgical treatment of ankle, knee and low-back problems, foot orthoses are commonly prescribed for such conditions as:

- Metatarsalgia
- Posterior Tibial Tendonitis
- Neuromas
PEDORTHICS
To treat gait abnormalities and a number of foot disorders, specially developed shoes or custom modifications to existing shoes are often prescribed. We are allied with other health professionals specially trained in the design, modification and fit of footwear. Together, we have the capability to achieve needed comfort and support in a shoe with appealing style.
ASSURANCE
The Brace Place is accredited by American Board for Certification in Orthotics, as is its staff. Which means you can be confident in the evaluations and recommendations we offer, as well as the devices we provide. Our certification also assures that the Brace Place meets all Medicare requirements, both today and into the future.

Ron W. Moccia, CO
Ron joined St. Croix Orthopaedics to help establish Brace Place in 1989 after working in the orthotic field in the Twin Cities for several years. He completed both orthotic and prosthetic technician programs at Century College, White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Ron has also completed his B.S. degree at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.
Ron is board certified as a Certified Orthotist (CO) by the American Board for Certification (ABC), the highest standard of credentialing in the United States.
Ron continues to serve on the Board of the Northern Plains Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP), an organization that provides and promotes educational opportunities for regional orthotic and prosthetic professionals.

Chad C. Smith, CO, C.Ped
Chad joined Brace Place in 2005 after working several years as an orthotic technician and uncertified orthotist. He received his AAS degree in Orthotic Technology from Century College, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in 1998. He went on to earn his B.S. degree in Human Services, with a Minor in Orthotic Technology, from Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2001. After completing his undergraduate degree, Chad returned to Century College for a one-year Orthotic Practitioner program, followed by a one-year residency at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul.
Chad is board certified as both a Certified Orthotist (CO) and Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped) by the American Board for Certification (ABC),the highest standard of credentialing in the United States.
